Howdy,
I'm helping a good friend of mine build a new budget computer as his first true gaming desktop. The hard part I'm coming up with is what to do about the graphics card. I see 2 options currently (both revolving around Black Friday/Cyber Monday).
1. I tell him to buy a GTX 1050Ti for as cheap as we can find one ~$100. Then I buy him a $50 SSD for his boot drive.
2. I sell him my GTX 1060-6gb for $100 and upgrade myself to a GTX 1070 with the potential deals. (this is where the upgrade portion came into play)
Either way, he's getting something from me.
Currently we have him spec'd out to be:
Pentium G4560 or G4600
8 GB RAM
1TB WD Blue
450W PSU
Some Reputable Mo-Bo (undecided)
Mini ATX case
The exact card I would be giving him would be the MSI GTX1060 - 6GT OCV1
Both of us play on 1080p 60fps with no monitor changes in the foreseeable future. I play more graphically demanding games than he does most of the time.
So I'm asking really, which option would suit us better? This is considering potential bottlenecks, usefulness, future proofing, cost effectiveness, etc.
I'm willing to add more info as needed. Thanks for any help!
