New P S and MOBO

The new P S has the 24 pin connector and my MOBO has 20...I watched a video link where the guy suggested if that be the case for me, than I should bend 4 pins. Now the purpose for trying the new P S was to see if my main problem was just that ...a dead P S...but what if it turns out that my MOBO is a goner? sure I would have to get another MOBO, but what if that one has the 24 pin connector, what becomes of those bent pins I previously would do? Buy another P S?

Normally you shouldn't have to bend the other 4 pins to use it in a 20 pin setup, they would just over hang and not be used.
