Go into your BIOS under Advanced.Jumper Free Configuration then enter PCI Clock Sycronization mode and set it to fixed 100. That should do the trick.

I have this same MB its a hot one.......

My system is very similar to yours....

P5N32 SLI
P4 960 (OC 4.2)
XMS2 Pro (2x 1Gb)
Raptor 150 Gb
Gigabyte 7900GT
Lian Li PC V 1000

Water cooled with the following
Swiftec pump
Tygon 1/2" tubes
Black Ice III
1.2L Res

The reason why you are getting random blue screens is because you have a P 180 which just wont surfice your air cooling needs.

You will need to start thinking of water cooling if you want to oc this rig beyond 4.0....

Pity you returned it for a cheap MB..... tell us how it goes anyway

I have not tried to overclock by much at all from what I have read on various forums others are having simular problems and on a diffrent board I got it running at 4.3 stable with air cooling my curent sys temp after 12hrs of use is a stable 40c and the cpu runs at 42 -44 c so I think the p180 case is fine their is a seperate chamber with its own fan running keeping the psu cool
and i dont think £160 for a mobo is a cheap option

What's your RAM voltage set to in BIOS. Sounds like a RAM problem to me. Try MEMtest for RAM stability. The Default voltage for your RAM may not be enough, and a boost might help. 2.1v is the spec for your RAM. GL :)

Thats a nice MB but you have a nvidia card and you have a crosfire MB???

Are you planing to move to ATI?

Why not get a AW8 MAX 3? That 7950 is probably all you will ever need from a GPU....

Good to hear. Is it nice and stable now? Makes it through 3dMark ok? :)

up the voltage of the CPU another "notch" for improved stability....

prime is better for CPU testing...
There aren't many programs that work the processor harder than 3D Mark 06. The PhysX tests will bring even the best processors down, whereas prime tests RAM and processor.

Hello did you install all the drivers that came with the mother board? that includes the USB 2.0 drivers. I always thought that I was supposed to use the windows XP service pack 2 drivers but that was not the case with my gigabyte GA-8N-SLI board that uses a Nvidia chipset also. My system was more stable after installing the USB 2.0 drivers that came with the mother board.

Hi Thanks for all the input

I RMA all the other boards so they were not trashed I now have the Abit AW8D and the usb 2 drivers are provided by xp I tried the driver that came with the mobo and it just tells me to install sp1

I am ussing the Ninja fanless cooler wich is not ideal for extreme overclocking but it is pretty quite and i have always been dubious about water cooling, however this seems to have come along in leaps and bounds so if some one would like to sugest a good liquid system let me know

In hindsight the only reason I changed from the Asus exstreme board was that it was not listed as being compatible with the nvidia 7950 x2 card it was a nice board though.

I did manualy set the timmings to 4 4 4 12

what would you sgest for V.core voltage defult is 1.4000 then goes 1.4250, 1.4500 1.4750 1.5000 etc

I think I had it on 1.4500

then the DDRV defult 1.80 and I set it to 1.85 any sugestions ?

I found if i increased the MCH1.5 it would freeze up the graphics card I asume it defults to 1.5 I tried 1.55 but then put it back to 1.5 any sugestions

thanks for all the input guys it been very helpfull on my learning curve

next month i am going to get one of the new Conroe's as i have read some great stuff about them.

and finaly I am a mature student doing a computing degree and do not work for Abit lol be nice if i did get all the boards for cost or free he he

Thanks again any sugestions greatly apretiated thanks

Mike

3D mark tests out your GPU more than your CPU..... Prime, PI, CPU burn etc etc ensure that your CPU is under 100% load all the time! Ive seen CPU usage drop to 70% with 3D Mark which obviously does not stress out your CPU as much as Prime..... It does a good job of stressing out your OCed GPU.....

But whatever works for you is fine with me.....

You should look to wc your CPU now....

3D Mark 06 CPU tests pull most processors down to under 1.5fps.....and when i'm O/C'ed too much it'll freeze.Tell me that's not working the CPU hard.

PS. I know that 3D Mark is a GPU test, but the included CPU test is tough.
