New P4 Xeon Reviews?

I'm just curious if anyone has done a review on dual P4 Xeons.

The 512K 2.0 GHz part appears to be about $130 more than a standard P4 2.0 GHz processor which is certainly in the range of possibility for a lot of people and it seems a shame to ignore it simply because it's not deemed a consumer processor.

The only thing that is truly more expensive are the motherboards. Of course they now seem to have PCI-X (not sure what components use it though) and a number of other bells and whistles (onboard U160 on supermicro boards for example.)

A comparison of Dual P4 Xeons with AMD MPs would be really helpful.

Haven't seen any reviews on them, but ~$500 for each of two CPUs is still a bit too pricey for me.

Pricewatch shows them at ~$430 currently compared to P4 2.0 GHz at ~$300. The 1.8 GHz are way down at ~$240 however, so two of them wouldn't be all that bad.

1.8 Xeons for $240? (Cheapest I could find was $265, BTW) Not bad, that drops it to within the common man's range, for sure. Can't find any motherboards so far, still looking.

The new SuperMicro boards are pretty nice looking. They each have PCI-X (133 MHz 64-bit PCI) which is pretty spiffy though not terribly useful right now. I believe IWILL has a board out as well, but no PCI-X.

im getting confused here.... how many chips do we have at 2.0Ghz? 3? 4?

tell me if im wrong but we have...

P4 2.0 (423) 256k 0.18micron
P4 2.0 (478) 256k 0.18micron
Xeon 2.0 (478?) 256k?
P4 2.0A (478) 512k 0.13micron
Xeon 2.0A???

You are right there are many chips at 2.0Ghz. But I think the socket 423 is or going to be discontinued. And I don't think Xeon 2.0Ghz uses socket 478. It has a different socket since it can be used in dual processor configuration.
