Hey.

I was playing with my irl friends and i was lagging, and i told them how crap my pc is.
One week later he gave me gpu and psu which he doesn't need anymore.

Somehow he got em to work on my crap PC. Should i buy a new CPU or leave my computer alone and save for a new one?

My current pc is asus aspire tc-220.

So the question is again, should i upgrade my cpu etc and try to make it some kind of ''gaming pc''
Or should i save for a new PC.

Solution

Sinking money on to that system would be a waste.

If the performance still bother you, ~$500 will get you a new i5 + B250 MB + 16GB DDR4 + mATX Case + W10license to eliminate any existing bottleneck.

That GTX780 should still be sufficient for 1080p gaming; the old label CX (and the fact that it has been used) kinda worries me but it shouldn't be so problematic that it need a replacement immediately.
From a look from at a local retailer website this the specs:

RAM16 GB (32 GB maximum expandable RAM)ProcessorAMD A10-7800 Processor - Quad-Core - 3.5 GHz, 3.9 GHz with TurboBoost - 4 MB cacheHard Drive3 TB HDD, 5400 rpmForm FactorDesktop PCOS ProvidedWindows 8.1 homeModelAcer TC220

That GTX 780 and corsair 750w should do the trick for the time being with your system. for the time being as the cpu itself isn't half bad. I would make use of what you have for the time being. Making sure you have all the correct drivers installed for the GTX780 as you probably already know.

Then start saving for a whole new gaming PC if I'm honest possibly using what hardware you have now to offset the price of it.

What types of games are you looking to play?
