Hello everyone,

I'm building a new pc for my flatmate and I'd like some directions and advice. We live in Austria and use the website "geizhals" for price comparison (https://geizhals.at/). The budget is around 1300 euros just for the tower.

He will be using the pc for everyday homeoffice things as well as casual gaming. Nothing too extreme is needed in terms of graphics performance etc. Having that said, we thought a 32'' monitor in 1440p @75Hz would nice and we found this one which seems pretty neat:

MONITOR: AOC Q3279VWFD8, 31.5" € 197,00 (this has its own separate budget)

For the tower I have so far:

CASE: be quiet! Pure Base 500DX € 99,99
SSD: Samsung SSD 970 EVO 500GB € 70,90
HDD: Seagate BarraCuda Compute 2TB € 53,40
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DIMM Kit 16GB, DDR4-3200, CL16-18-18-36 € 66,20

Summing to a total of 290 € for these essentials, which leaves around 1000 euro for the cpu, gpu, psu and mobo (hope I'm not forgetting something).

I'd appreciate any tips or advice; I'm just starting to look into the current meta for chipsets etc. One thing which would be nice (not a requirement though) is a WiFi receiver on the motherboard.

Cheers

Did you purchase the ram for the build? If not then I'd suggest you swap out to DDR4-3600MHz rams, provided you're interested in going for a B550 chipset and the Ryzen 3000(or above processors). As for the SSD, get teh 970 Evo Plus.

I used PCPartPicker to look for parts in your neighboring country, Germany;

By casual gaming, can you state what games your flatmate would like to tax the system with?

Hello, thanks for the reply!

I have not purchased anything yet, just considering the parts.

is 260 euro for a motherboard worth it? could you explain the choice of this mobo?

I am not sure what games he wants to play but certainly no FPS shooter or MMO's. Probably mostly light games, but I am not sure what's demanding nowadays?
