Hi all, Recently, my computer has started failing to perform even mundane tasks, so I have been forced to retire the old gal. It was an old laptop with a 960m card. My friend is a profuse water cooling expert, and offered to help me bend tubes, so I would like to have a custom hardline loop.

Approximate Purchase Date: About a month

Budget Range: 2500 - 3000

System Usage from Most to Least Important:creative type stuff, primarily cad and video editing

Are you buying a monitor:
Yes

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: N/A, All

Location: San Francisco, CA, United States

Parts Preferences:
would like amd cpu

Overclocking: Basic

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution:
1440p or above

Additional Comments: I will be using fusion 360 and premier pro, with 4k. Would like to have a full water cooling loop.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: My current pc is extremely weak, crashes just moving an item in fusion 360, non overclockable, basically just terrible.

Include a list of any parts you have already selected with descriptively labeled links for parts. Please do not post only links.

Solution
if you plan on basic overclocking
maybe custom loop is a bit too much
usually, people who get custom loops are the ones that will heavily overclock the pc.
remember, watercooling maintanence NEEDS to be done and you need to know you can do it yourself.

also, watercooling is expensive. if your budget is 3k, you might wanna get a ryzen 9 3900X (or wait for the 3950X) and an rtx 2080ti, a x570 board, a nice 360mm aio cooler or air cooler, 32gb 3600mhz cl16 or 15 ram
a new pcie 4.0 m.2 ssd a nice modular 850w psu
that alone should be around 2.2k
leaving you 800$ for monitor and any other accessories.

for per part recommendations of what i just suggested (again, custom loops are for people who want to tinker with their pc, more than...

Cpu:
ryzen 9 3900X

Graphics card:
asus strix 2080 ti oc (i personally like strix cards, but any 2080ti will work the same depending on the cooling)

Power supply:
corsiar hx850i

Ram:
Corsair vengance pro rgb 4X8/16X2 3600mhz cl3600 (4x8 is prefered but is harder to find.)
or
G.skill TridentZ rgb 4X8/16X2 3600mhz cl16

Motherboard:
okay, here it gets tricky
any b450, x470, x570 board will work.
x470 is dumb and dont buy it.
b450 boards are the cheapest that will work and even can overclock, but wont have pcie 4.0 if you care
x570 will be super expensive but will have pcie 4.0
if youre looking for pcie 4.0
then this:
Asus rog strix x570-(some letter) gaming is very good (the letter at the end doesnt mean anything, just the specific color scheme so pick the one you life)
but its expensive even for x570, there are Asus TUF boards that are 100$ cheaper, that will do the same but with a lil less features you might not care about.
as for b450 boards..
any asus/msi/aorus board will work as theyre all practically the same with the same features.

as for cooler:
beefiest one you can find.
air cooler is generally better but looks worse so a 360mm or 280mm aios from corsair will do just fine

as for ssd:
if you went for the X570 board this is the only way for you:
Corsair Force Series MP600 1TB Gen4 PCIe X4 NVMe M.2 SSD
if you went for the b450,
a samsung 960 or 970 pro at the capacity you need will work
and then a cheapo on sale 1 or 2 tb hard drive you found in your moms basement will work for mass storage
unless you need more that is.

thats the main jist of it, hope i didnt miss anything.

Solution
Dual 4K IPS monitor setup, something like this should be good...

Thanks a lot for the response. The main reason I wanted water cooling is, as you saw, my case is a massive case, and I wanted to get the most out of the aesthetic.
well
heres the thing
you can add watercooling later
and you only waste what 30$ on a cooler?

if you buy a better cpu later you need to waste a 300$ cpu.
or ram
or whatever you compremise to keep the budget under 3000$ with water cooling
and again
water cooling is for people who TINKER with their pc
not USE their pc.
