OEM vs Retail
OEM keys can only be used on one motherboard period, not one model but a single motherboard. the keys become tied to the motherboard and cannot be used apart. They come with purchased pre-built computers.
Retail copies can only be used on one computer at a time, but can be installed to more than one computer, just one at a time. retire old pc move to new PC same license.
retail keys are usually 2.5x the cost of OEM keys. if you have a retail it will say on the DVD case.

if you have a retail version of windows the transfer will go as smoothly as you think.
if you have an OEM copy it will be much harder.

this does not even consider the driver differences that are going to stop the old hard drive from booting.

on old...

once the settings are correct in the BIOS the BIOS will only boot when you tell it to (by hitting a trigger key) or when there is a problem that needs you.
the z board will have more SATA express connectors.
you would do fine with the 520W variant of the S12II the M12II series is the same but modular if cable management is an issue.

yes the link is working

So it won't boot into Windows immediately why didnt the msu i have now not do that it is what gigabye am3 so I get if it goes into the bios you just set boot order to the hard drive but what us a trigger key my only concern is that it won't adapt to the new system

I think you are referring to the splash screen. it may be called full screen logo or similar in the BIOS.
When you power on a computer it is hard wired to POST, Power On Self Test. this test takes a second or two and while that is happening the motherboard manufacturer hides the boot screen with the logo, which again I assume is what you mean by gigbayte AM3. the splash screen is not the BIOS

trigger keys to the BIOS are usually F1, F2, F10, F11, F12, or Del it varies by motherboard. At first boot hit the proper trigger key to access the BIOS and change settings

the old hard drive will be readable in the new system as a secondary drive but you will not be able to just put the drive in and boot to your old desktop.

you will need a new copy of windows. Unless you bought a retail copy of windows the old copy will not activate on the new hardware

Ok so on first boot I just need to go into bios set the hard drive as first boot and it will boot into Windows also this is sort of weird but are there videos of the bios on this mobo bios concern me just because changing the wrong thing can result in very bad things but gotta do it for custom so is that the gist of it though just go into bios and set my hd to first boot.device

anything you do in the BIOS is not pernament. relax.
worst case scenario you change a setting and the CPU is no longer recognized and the system will not boot just sits there beeping and flashing at you, you can reset the BIOS.
remove the little silver battery and unplug all power for 10 minutes. replace the cords and battery and the system will boot again. so just know, the longest it will take to fix is 10 minutes if you screw anything up in the BIOS.
the motherboard manual should walk you through every setting in the BIOS, in my manual its in the rear of the book. page by page they walk through the BIOS settings. the settings will vary by board and manufacturer so unless someone specifically made a video about your board any video given would be rough generalizations and may even confuse you more. stick to the manual.

on old system.
find the user transfer wizard or migration tool, you may need to install it from MS. use the tool to transfer your user settings and programs settings to the new system. an external drive is good for the transfer file, it will be several GB in size depending on what you are migrating.

on new system.
install windows fresh and all updates. after windows is updated install any programs that you need from the old HDD, you will need the installation media for each of the programs. once all programs have been installed you can run the migration wizard on the new PC and extract the files to the new user profile. application settings should be restored to the way you had them.

Ok when I get the setup I will plug and play hopefully it can just boot right into Windows but just in case I created a installation media of windows 10 onto a USB so,if the drive doesn't work I'll boot from that that will work right booting from usb
