My Build
Intel 4th gen i5 4670k
MSI Z87-GD65 motherboard
Crucial 8GB 4X2 D3 1600 DIMM CL9
Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SATA3 2.5' SSD
Corsair CX750 power supply
EVGA Nvidia GTX 660
Corsair Carbide 200r case
and honestly idk what my optic drive is, my friend put that in for me

Ok, so my problem in a nutshell seems to be a hardware problem, because I've been getting BSOD and freezing and crashes. I've done testing on the hardware and the Vid Card, SSD and processor seem to be fine, and just to be safe I got some new RAM. I replaced the RAM and I'm still getting freezing at random times. Sometimes it will be 10 minutes sometimes an hour but it will completely freeze and you can do nothing except shut the system down. So the only possible things left are the PSU and the motherboard. Idk if there is any testing you can do on a PSU to see if it's working correctly or not, but some of the things I've found online seem a little risky lol. So any suggestions in that area would be appriciated, as well as suggestions on testing the motherboard. My friend helped me do some testing with a software program but I'm not sure if it really tested the motherboard thoroughly or not, so I guess I'm just trying to figure out the best way to go about that.

My latest thing I have tried is moving the RAM sticks from DIMM 2 and 4 (Dual Channel slots) to DIMM 1 and 3 to see if this makes a difference. Maybe I'm just not using a good type of RAM in general, or for this board..I'm not sure but it's been almost 3 weeks since i've built this thing and I've only been able to play an hour here and there between freezes, and this was supposed to be my awesome dream computer. So I'm pretty desperate if there's anyone out there that has had similiar problems, or knows any way to help please let me know.

I believe it may be a defective mobo. Maybe you should contact MSI customer support for more help. I'm not aware of any tests for checking the status of a mobo but you could google it. Hope this helps

I'll be honest I haven't checked recently, I only checked when i first put it together but the temp didn't go over 50 and it was idle at 35, I guess that does seem a little high, but I'm not sure. I was planning on getting water cooling this week actually I've just been putting it off in case I needed extra money to replace something, but everything is new and still under warranty so I guess it'd be worth a shot. I'm also planning on calling MSI's customer support whenever I can to see if they can shed some light. But I guess I'll talk to them and hook up the water cooling and see if that makes a difference, and I'll double check the current heat sink anyway to see if it was seated properly or not.

Alright, so I thought I had the problem fixed here for a little while. I changed out my SATA cables because i was beginning to think there was a problem there, but I'm still freezing up..it doesn't do it as much anymore but it still happens.

As far as heat and the heatsink seating, the heatsink is on there fine, and my temps during gaming never exceed 50 C, so all my temps are fine. I've already switched out the RAM three times, the second time i wasn't sure if the RAM was good or not so I switched it to a set I knew for sure was working so the RAM itself isn't the issue.

Honestly I'm getting to the point where I don't know what to do short of getting a new motherboard or hard drive so if anybody has any other suggestions, once again greatly appriciated.
