ok well i've got myself in a mess...
ive got a
biostar h18s2 that i may RMA,
730t corsair case
a GTX 660,
i5 4460,
xfx 750w,
2 x 4Gb ddr3 patriot viper low profile RAM.
just built this pc today and i couldn't boot it with both of the RAM sticks in the mobo. only the furthest slot(only two slots) from the cpu will work. i can put either RAM stick in B1 and ill boot up just fine, but neither of them work in A1 (meaning blank screen and it continuously restarts itself$ ive updated all my drivers including my bios which is now a 2014 version. i reseated the ram numerous times and ive reseated the gfx card and the processor as well... so im stuck with 4 gigs of RAM. Anyways after installing win 7 x64 and some other programs like process explorer, and google chrome, i experience 1-10 minute lock ups.. ESPECIALLY with google chrome. i cant play the game archeage like i could on my 10 year old pc -.- there are horizontal invisible lines during gaming and it looks terrible(v-sync helps but doesnt eliminate).
im idling at 45% RAM usage(this is too high considering i installed win 7 a few hours ago). im wondering if this could all just be a faulty motherboard. maybe bad RAM? its so slow i hooked my 10 yr old pc back up just to play the game. my temps are fine too, i just hope its something simple like the mobo :/ anyone have knowledge of a train-wreck like this!?

Solution

The latest bios is according to them this one;"H81AF616.BSS".

good to hear you solved that on your own, well done! 😀

oh my old rig is an asus p5n, intel xeon e3110, 4 gigs ddr2, 9800 gtx and it runs faster than this brand new build!! can anyone please tell me wtf is going on? this is only the second computer ive personally built for myself, but ive helped friends with all kinds of things and this is just a nightmare, literally. i dont even think i could dream this bad

If it works with one stick try a bios update,it might need that to work with that haswell refresh cpu. This might also solve the ram problem.
I tried to find that motherboard, but with this ;"biostar h18s2",am i not able to find it.

I'm sorry it's the Biostar hi-fi H81S2 !! Anyways i have updated the bios and it says it's version 2014. I heard that this motherboard needs to be updated for a haswell refresh processor. How would i go upon fixing this? since i already downloaded the latest bios (everything seems to be running okay). I found out that my computer is glitching because im running VGA to DVI with an adapter. Thanks for the reply!

Ive fixed the issue! apparently there was a bent pin on the motherboard so i got my handy dandy tools(paper clip) and bent it back! 8 gigs of RAM now accessible. on the other hand my gfx card still gives those faint horizontal lines and i would like to have it confirmed that its just a VGA to DVI problem.. am i able to go DVI-D to DVI-I?
forgot to add its only when gaming (only have one game installed) but when i watch HD videos its clear as day

DVI-D to DVI-I should be possible yes.
It probably glitches more with games because the card get's taxed more. Also got the latest drivers? For as well the gpu as the motherboard.

For the latest motherboard drivers get the chipset drivers first, then the others.

this link is for your motherboard if i'm not mistaken.

You could first remove the old gpu drivers with one of these,

or
http://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion
after done install the latest WHQL drivers from here,

You could try the different cable first of course. The easy solution first. 😉
