New PC Build for Gaming/Streaming

Hi all,

I will start by saying that I used to be into gaming when I was younger, but then life got busy and I have recently got back into gaming in the past 12-18 months. I have been using my far from ideal laptop for gaming and am now interested in building a PC for gaming as well as for streaming my gaming. I will be honest and admit I know very little about technology these days and am rather ignorant about many of the differences in the various options out there. I have been doing some reading, but much of it is overwhelming and I am hoping I can get some good advice from the community here.

The general information I can give is that I need an entire PC including monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset/mic and webcam.

I have followed the Sticky Topic about how to ask for help, so hopefully I am doing as I should. :)

Approximate Purchase Date: In the next month

Budget Range: ~1,500 GBP with some flexibility, especially if it keeps the PC more viable in the future without needing to upgrade (I am in Denmark, so the money may not go as far here as it would in the UK, US or some other places)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming and Streaming my gaming, associated internet related services (Discord, Reddit, Streamlabs, OBS), General internet browsing, streaming other services (movies, other gamers, etc), typical word processing and other similar tasks

Are you buying a monitor: Yes (ideally included in the budget)

Parts to Upgrade: This will be a brand new build from scratch with all parts needed

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: I am happy to take the details from any website and then transfer them to a local source for my own purpose, as required

Location: Copenhagen, Denmark

Parts Preferences: My thoughts are that I would be going for 16 GB of RAM (but perhaps 8 GB is sufficient) and a 6 GB GPU (perhaps a 1060?). I am not sure if I should go for an intel or AMD processor...I am reading mixed input about which would be better for my purposes.

Overclocking: Maybe (I do not know much about overclocking, so I would not be looking overclock at the start...this is definitely not a priority)

SLI or Crossfire: No idea......

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080...I would like to be able to play and stream at 1080p with 60fps

Additional Comments: I have some ideas about mouse, keyboard, headset/mic and webcam, but any additional thoughts are always appreciated. In addition, I do not know much about what case, cooling, motherboard and power supply would be best suited for the ultimate build.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I am upgrading as my laptop is okay for playing basic games at low quality, but I am looking for a better gaming experience and the ability to play a larger variety of games while also streaming them.

Thank you so much in advance for any help you can offer. :)

This is bit over budget but is completely worth it for smooth game play over time even while streaming and yes with GTX1080 you won't be needing to upgrade for a long time. This list covers every thing you need. All are high quality components.

What a fantastic, helpful response! I will dig deeper into what you have suggested and see how it looks here in terms of pricing/availability here in Denmark. Thanks so much!

1500 GBP is ~ 2000 USD. You should get Genesis from Origin PC for about $1900. You can choose some of the hardware yourself. The doesn't include display tho. https://www.originpc.com/gaming/desktops/genesis/

Thank you for the suggestion. I will take a look at the website and see what options are available and also about whether they ship to Europe or not. :)

The config I provided if try to put up in Genesis it will cost way over $3000 which is extremely high.
