New PC Build - Is This Good?

Hey guys,

I have always wanted a gaming PC, but i never had gotten around to it. I think I'm finally ready to take the dive, but I wanted to check if my PC build was good. I juts want to play AAA games at a solid 60-ish FPS.

The 1060 is a pretty good card for 1080p gaming, you might find a few games where you have to compromise video quality against FPS but generally you would be alright. You might want to consider getting a 1070 if you can afford it, it will last longer in the 60fps zone and you'll have no worries with the 60fps target.

I game with a 1060 and with something like Doom or Overwatch I am easily over 60fps. When I load up GTA V with my custom settings I tend to be over 60fps but I dropped people and traffic density plus a few other settings I feel make no difference. There are a few even more demanding games/badly optimised ones where you will probably see your FPS in the 40's or even 30's at times (looking at you Battlegrounds).

You should look into the new 580's, specially the limited editions like Golden Sample from PowerColor, clocking above 1400Mhz.
Now they beat 1060 in most games and considering the new games are better optimized for AMD stuff, the future looks better for 580 cards.

The build you put together is a very good start, and it looks like you've done some research. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7XrvFd I threw this together in a few minutes, It is highly upgradeable, has a nicer moniter, and the KB and mouse go along with the color scheme. Spending that much money, I would advise that you do alot more research and possibly wait for VEGA, and consider going used.

Either way its' about a $20 difference. I don't suggest monitors or peripherals because those things are a lot of personal preference. Also don't forget OS license.
