Hello. My name is John I just inherited a bunch PC parts and I wanna know if what I have and what I bought to fill in the gaps would be a workable system, and if anything should be upgraded or changed before I throw it all together. Here is the parts list:

GPU = Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4060 Ti
CPU = Intel Core i5-14600K
Mobo = Asus ROG Strix Z790-E
Storage = Kingston SA400S37120G, Samsung SSD 850 EVO, WDC WD10EZEX-60ZF5A0, WDC WD5000AAKS-65V0A0
RAM = Dominator Titanium DDR5 7200 x2 16GB
Display = Asus Tuf Gaming 144 refresh
Case = iCUE 4000X RGB
Cooling = iCUE H100i Elite Capellix XT
Power Supply = RM850e

I bought the GPU, the CPU and the RAM, everything else was from a friend. Money really isn't issue (that's a lie but I am willing to spend a lil bit to balance things out) because I only needed to spend a fraction of what usually goes into a PC. One of the things I am most worried about is the storage because there are 4 separate HDs of two different types and I know they are probably around 5 years old, maybe even older. Next I am wondering if the cooling would be sufficient enough for the CPU, or if it would maybe require a 3 fan radiator. Lastly I am wondering if the power supply will be enough.

Any help would appreciated. I'm hoping it looks good as is because I kind of just bought the pieces I needed without really looking into it now I am worried something won't work together correctly!

Is that RAM on the motherboard's qualified list? Might be OK even if it isn't, but you might have trouble at 7200?

What will be on the spinning hard drives? Is any of them intended to be a data backup of some type? If they pass SMART examination, I guess you ride them till they don't. Could last 10 more years or 10 more minutes. Be prepared regardless.

Air cooling would be OK on a 14600K, but you've already bought the AIO, so go ahead if you accept the risks.

Which of those drives is intended to get Windows?

Its on the Asus QVL list for that board!

As of right now the Kingston 120G has Windows on it and nothing else, and the Samsung EVO is storing all my games. I wiped all four of them when I got them so the other two are just in there for extra storage if I need it.

What would be the risks of that AIO?

Thanks you for the reply!

Most will complain about you having a 120 GB Windows drive. Fact is, I had Windows on a 120 GB drive for 8 years and have NEVER had more than 55 GB on my C partition.

It's up to you alone to decide how much capacity is needed on that drive. You know better than anyone.

I know nothing about that specific AIO, but there are always maintenance-related risks with liquid cooling. You accept it or you don't.

Don't know how much storage you need or how much money you are willing to spend. You can get a 2 TB SSD for about 100 dollars on up to get away from spinning drives entirely.

Just using what I got honestly. I kinda like the idea of Windows having its own drive. Its also the healthiest of all the drives. All are at 50%+ and rated good except one that isn't being used, its rated a caution so I just wont be using that at all. I'll probably just go ahead and purchase a new one.

Gotcha. Yeah I am ok with that. I've used liquid cooling for awhile and really the only issue I ever had was accidentally getting CPU grease on things.

Pretty good, I'll have to look around! Apprecite the help.
