Hello,
I just built a new pc.

Asrock b460m pro4
Western digital 500 gb ssd
16gb stick of g skill 3200 mhz ram
Intel i5 10400 cpu
Msi geforce gtx 1660 6gb gpu
850 watt psu

The issue I am having is, I am trying to install windows 10 on the new ssd using a USB flash drive. While trying to install, the pc sometimes just randomly shuts off. I just tried again and this time the pc froze while installing.

The second issue happens after it shuts off or I try to restart it after it freezes. The pc won't turn back on until I unplug it for a minute.

I would appreciate any help anyone can give. Thanks

always a bad sign when I can't find any reviews of the PSU

they didn't have a good name 6 years ago - https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/is-kentek-good-quality.1642422/

Company name listed here in the list of brands not to use - https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...pply-discussion-thread-toms-hardware.3212332/

you would have been better off buying from a known good brand, not the cheapest you could find. PSU is vital part of PC, without it nothing works and with a bad one, parts can go bang.

Meant too. Its a kentek 850 watt. Model KTPS-850

Now the red lights that say vga and boot are lighting up. Boot light goes out occasionally though.

every other part looks reasonable, a virtually unknown PSU is probably the cause, yes.

Buy a good one to match the PC.
Thanks for the reply. One last question though. Is there any way to test the psu just to be sure before I order one? I obviously can't get into windows to see any logs or anything (if there are any), but what gets me is, I can leave the pc on in the bios for a while and it doesn't shut down. I understand it is probably using very little power while in the bios and that may be why it doesn't shut down there, but I would think installing windows would not use that much more power to cause it to crash?! Thanks
