Hello everyone. I have tried to configure a build for a new PC on part picker and I can't seem to keep the budget under $300.

I need a new system for a friend who only makes music CD's from his recorded music. His current system is a old HP with a Core i5 2400, 4GB RAM, DVD-RW Drive.

New system has to be complete as in New PC Parts, Monitor, Speakers, Keyboard, Mouse.

Is this a pipe dream? Am I crazy, or is there a way of doing this?

Solution
Not possible with new parts.

This is the cheapest. It is under 300 bucks, but it would perform worse than his current PC.

Maybe upgrade his current PC if unhappy with performance?

This combo with either monitor will be under $300. Going with the cheaper monitor will allow for a better speaker, mouse, or keyboard.

If it were only a new PC under 300$, it would be doable, but since he also requires all the peripherals to be included in that cost, that eats into the budget too much. He would not be able to get a computer that performs much better than what he already has for that money. If you cram all of that into 300$, not only will you get a computer that will probably perform the same or maybe even worse, but also pretty cheap/generic peripherals as well.
