New PC build. Upgrade Vista to 7

Hey guys first time building a PC so noob question. I have an old Windows Vista disc & a Windows 7 upgrade only disc. Can I install vista then upgrade to 7 without any problems. Thanks.

Yes if you a full retail license for vista!

You can do an upgrade on Vista, or there are ways to do a clean install with your 7 disk. This would be the preferred way, easier and quicker.
