Hey Guys,

i'd like to upgrade my rig since I haven't purchased a new component (beside GPU's) since a long time. And if possible i'd keep some things.

At the moment I use an ASRock Extreme4 z77, i7 3770k (air cooled with a Noctua NH-d14), 32gb of ram, 1080 ti and a Corsair AX 850.

I am planing to get an ASRock Extreme4 z390, i9 9900k and 32 gb of DDR4.

I have some questions:
- can I still use my Corsair AX850 with this new components?
- can I install the Noctua NH-d14 on the new Motherboard/CPU?
- for the new motherboard (z390) do I need 4 sticks of ram or 2 are fine (does it matter for dual channel or quad?)?

Thank you for now

Solution

1. yes
2. yes, you may need to get a different backplate for the cooler
3. Quad channel...

1. yes
2. yes, you may need to get a different backplate for the cooler
3. Quad channel requires 4 sticks of ram. with only two sticks, you are limited to dual channel access. Also the new MB requires DDR4 Ram.
