BIOS may need an update. If MB was made more than a year ago it may not have appropriate BIOS version.

When I was browsing parts on Amazon I saw this motherboard and the reviews said that it was compatible with a ryzen 5 without bios update but on the box it says that it’s compatible with ryzen 3rd generation. Could this be the problem?

Looking at your motherboards support page, unfortunately your board doesnt support BIOS Flash,(which makes updating the BIOS a little more complicated.) And yes, like you say, you would need a previous generation cpu in order to update it.
I seriously cannot thank you enough, you’ve been such a massive help.
not very happy with Amazon straight up lying to me lol

As I said before, it depends when MB was manufactured but don't expect Amazon to check each MB or even box, they don't make them, they just sell someone else's products. Except for delivery and taking money, don't expect anything else from them

Yeah that’s true, it’s more so the consumers I’m mad at, because they are the ones that said that it is ryzen 5000 ready.
Massive thanks to the both of you
