Question New PC build won't start ?

Hi everyone!
I built my PC yesterday evening and I've encountered a problem during startup, nothing happens. The only thing I can hear is the sound of a "click" probably coming from the power supply.

Short video of the noise :

What I've already tried:
  • Unplug the graphics card and hard disks and try to boot up.
  • Disconnect the F Panel cable and use a screwdriver between the 2 power pins
  • Check all cable connections

I've heard of a method of using a paperclip and putting it into the 24-pin cable from the dedicated power supply to the motherboard to check that the PSU is working, I'll try that tonight.

I wanted to know if anyone has encountered this problem and knows how to solve it ?
I'd like to point out that the components are brand new.

Thanks a lot!

Please post full system specs including PSU make & model. Whoever helps you will want to know this information.

Do not bunch the specs together on the same line, put them in a clear list like so:

Motherboard:
CPU:
GPU:
PSU:
RAM:
HDD/SSD:

Something is not properly connected, if there are no lit leds and no signs of life, when starting pc.

Check incoming power cable.
Check power switch on PSU.
Check PSU power connector and 12V CPU connector plugged properly into motherboard.
Check if Power On button properly connected.

(Forgot the reference) but it's a modular PSU of 750W from Hydro GSM
RAM :

HDD/SSD :
(Forgot the reference as well) I use a SSD as the main hard drive and a second HDD.

Honestly I've already checked all the cables and it seems there is no particular issue regarding their connection

When I tried the screwdriver methods it mades the same noise as when the F-Panel cable was plugged so I don't think there is a issue here

Do you have an idea what can cause it ?
Improper installation procedure.
Like:
forgetting to install standoffs in pc case or installing them in a wrong spot and causing short,
plugging in something into a wrong place (like floppy power connector into fan header on motherboard)
or something like that.
Go through this checklist and check everything.

Thank you a lot for your answers ! I will try to verify that tonight 😉

The problem with rechecking one's own work, is that one typically makes the same mistake checking it.

After checking the paperclip test to see if it was coming from the power supply, it seems that it was. Indeed, after switching on the power supply, it began to spin for 2 seconds before switching off with the same noise as in the video.

Thank you everyone for your help ! I'll buy another PSU tomorrow since this one was provided by my job (despite the fact that they told me it worked) and i'll update this post if i get another issue :)

Some PSUs turn off, if they do not detect any load.
Connect a fan to PSU and try again.
Your comment just saved me ahah !
One thing I didn't know was that the PSU fan doesn't necessarily spin unless it needs it. So I connected a hard drive instead of a fan and it worked. Then I tried to connect all the components one by one, and the issue was from the CPU cable.
Either the 8 pins CPU cable I was using was damaged, or I had to plug a 2x4 pins cable (which I did) into the 8 pins port (it doesn't seem logical but it worked at the end).
Thank you a lot ! I was able to boot up my pc and install the drivers, and now everything works properly!

8pin cable from PSU can be either PCIE 8pin (6+2) or CPU 8pin (4+4).
One goes into graphics card, the other goes into motherboard.
Plugging wrong cable should not be possible. But with enough force theoretically this can be done and will cause short.

Also with modular cables you have to be careful about cable direction, so correct end goes into PSU.
Wrong directing and you get a short.
