New PC build won't use the mic on my earphones

I have a new PC build and when I plug in earphones and play a game the audio is fine, but when I go into a group voice chat the earphone Mic isn't recognised.

Not sure how I could get it working so help is appreciated

Case is p400s, motherboard is b350 tomahawk

What headset are you using? It could be that you need to install drivers if its a higher end headset.

Is just a standard pair of earphones I used to use for my laptop. I have a sennheiser gsp 300 ordered but it will take some time to get here.
I am worried that if the earphones don't work them something might not for the headset.
