Hi everyone. I’m looking to upgrade my PC, but was planning on using some parts in my current PC in my new build, if possible. I’m looking for a build that will allow me to play the majority of games on ultra-graphics somewhat seamlessly. I do have a VR headset, and play that sometimes as well. I’m not too interested in going for more superior graphics like 4k or anything. I don’t have any plans on doing any streaming or content creation type related stuff, but if it’s possible in the build, why not! I’ll also be doing other non-gaming related stuff on the side, but nothing to the point that it should impact the build (Excel, word, multi-tab browsing, etc.).
I’m trying to go for the cheapest build I can while also keeping what I had mentioned above in performance intact. My budget is essentially what I have on my PCPartPicker list, so if there is anything that I can downgrade in terms of price while still getting the same performance, that would be great. My primary thoughts are towards my choice in motherboard, RAM, and GPU. From what I’ve read, DDR5 memory isn’t super important if you’re using a dedicated graphics card, so if there is a solid DDR4 motherboard that works with the CPU, I can also look to downgrade my memory choice in order to save money there as well. Although having implemented WiFi isn’t essential for me, I’d prefer it. Also, having quite a few USB ports would be preferable as well.
In terms of GPU, I understand that I can’t be too picky on this choice because it’s the most important component to any build, so I'd be willing to spend the $600 for the 4070, that is unless there is another option that is essentially the same performance wise. I’ll be honest in that a lot of computer build talk goes over my head, such as specifics for each component, but I try my best to understand most concepts.
The last thing I’ll ask is in regard to the compatibility notes on the PCPP list. The notes are mainly about the CPU cooler that I have in my build currently and whether or not it would require an adapter for the new motherboard, or if it would even fit into the case I have chosen. As I mentioned, I honestly don’t even know how to go about checking to see if everything would in fact check out, so any insight on these notes would be awesome. If it’s really necessary, I can look into replacing the components I had originally planned on using in the new build (CPU cooler and storage items).
