New PC built, after installing Windows, no longer outputting to monitor

First computer built, here's the build

Asus Z170-A
Intel i5 6600K
Coolermaster hyper212 EVO
Corsair CX750M
Samsung 850 SSD
WD HDD black series
GTX 970
Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2x8

I was able to pull up the BIOS perfectly fine before, everything was running perfectly fine, but I started installing windows 10, walked out of the room for a few mins, came back in and my monitor was off, and all I saw was my video card running, my CPU fan running, and that was it. I tried restarting but on startup screen never lights up at all, case fans dont turn on, and the CPU fan and Video card proceed to function properly. I tried unplugging some stuff and trying different ports, and I found out that the case fans only work in one fan port now, even though they were working fine before in separate ports, but I haven't had any solution to anything else yet. tried taking out one memory card and starting, no response, tried integrated graphics, no response. I'm terrified that I short circuited my MB, but I don't see how that could have happened? I also checked to make sure my monitor was working fine, and it is.

If anyone has any idea what is going on please help.

Sorry to hear that you are having these issues.

Have you tried reseating the graphics card and see if that works? This seems to be a graphical issue due to the monitor not turning on. Have you tried a different cable to connect the graphics card to your monitor?


This issue seems to be between the graphics for your computer communicating with the monitor. Which monitor do you have?

Have you tried changing the monitor settings? As some can be set to different modes to appreciate different cables better.

where are you plugging your monitor into?
make sure you are plugging into the GTX970 and if it doesn't work, use one of the video ports from your motherboard.
