I'm new here in this forum.

Just finished choosing parts for a strong gaming pc, please tell me if it's ok:

That looks pretty good.

A few possible improvements IMO.

- Z68 motherboard?
- Better RAM? 8gigs of 1600 CL9 Corsair Dominators cost just $50.
- Skip the PhysX card and go for SLI GTX570's?

That's what I believe you could improve. Lets see what the pros have to say. :)

EDIT: Wait, have you finished building it? In that case...
 
Your first post looks as though your trying to run an ATI and Nvidia card together?

You need 2 of the SAME cards in order to run SLI or Crossfire.

You might also find you get better performance running x2 SpinPoint F3's 1TB in RAID 0 than a single 2TB WD Black, for a similar price.

zero_ suggested SLI 570's, which compared to x2 6870s or a GTX 460 is HUGE price jump.

What budget are you on? and What country are you buying from?
 
I've choosen 2 graphic cards:

HIS 6870 IceQ X 1GB GDDR5

and a third one for physx:

GigaByte GeForce GTX460 1024MB GDDR5 OverClocked


About the RAID 0 i think your right thanks for the note.

My budget is 3000$-3500$
I'm buying from israel.
 


That's what he's planning. Dunno if it's possible though. I've seen single cards from each kind running together.

That puts the budget at $200x2 + $170 = $570
2x 570's cost around $610.
 
Yeah im fairly confused by the OP's intentions.

x2 570's would be more than enough GPU power though, and there would be no need to buy ATI cards. Even SLI 560Ti's would provide enough GPU power to run all the latest games on enthusiast settings.
 
CPU - i5-2500k
Motherboard - P67 or Z68 (recommend z68)
RAM - Corsair 1600MHz 2x4GB sticks DDR3
GPU - x2 570s SLI or x2 560Ti's SLI (depends on budget)
PSU - 850w for SLI 570's modular PSU (Corsair, Antec, Enermax, SeaSonic, XFX) - 750w for SLI 560's
HDD - SpinPoint F3's RAID0
SSD - OCZ Vertex 3 or Agility 3
Case - HAF X is over-size for this build really, but case should be down to personal choice more than anything.
 
GPU's have their own cooling fans so they should keep themselves cool.

Watercooling is obviously an option for either CPU or GPU or even a loop for both. However that comes at quite a cost and requires, what id call to be, some fairly extensive knowledge.

Aftermarket CPU air coolers usually consist of: Arctic Freezer 7 Rev2, Hyper 212+, Noctua NH-DH14...theres really loads and loads of different ones. All you really need is something that will fit socket 1155. Personally im very pleased with my Arctic Freezer 13, but others will obviously all have different recommendations.

I know that GPU's have their own cooling, but becuase of the 2 GPU's i think maybe to add more cooling.


 
HAF X has space for front and side intake fans. This should be drawing in plenty of cool air for your GPU's.

Watercooling generally isnt desirable untill you get into SLI 580's.

I believe you can buy aftermarket GPU air coolers from Zalman, however these probably arent all that much more effective than the stock air cooling. Space between PCI slots can also be an issue with aftermarket air cooling.

2 Options really are:
1) Leave them as they are.
2) Add a watercooled loop for the GPU's - Watercooling Section of TOMs Hardware is you best place for advice there.
