New PC components list, need advice

Hi,

I am soon going to be starting building my first PC and have got together a components list. My friend (who has built PCs before) has helped me up to this point but I just wanted some other opinions on it.

So here goes.
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 with 5 extra Fractal 140mm fans
GPU: EVGA GTX 780 Superclocked ACX 3GB
CPU: I5 4670k 3.4Ghz (not planning on OC as don't want to over-complicate anything)
MoBo: Asus Z97 Sabertooth Mark 2
PSU: Corsair CX750M
Memory: 8GB Corsair Vengeance pro series red DDR3
SSD: 120GB Kingston Now V300
HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda
CPU Cooler: Bequiet Shadow Rock 2
Optical Drive: 24x DVD Drive

As you can probably tell, I have a very basic knowledge of how to build a computer, I don't know the technical reasons for anything, I just know what goes where. I did ask this question on a YouTube video but I didn't get a reply so I came here hoping for some help.
This is my first post and remember I'm a 'newb' at computer building, so please don't be too harsh.

Looks good but I'd change a few things. Don't get a K model CPU since the only reason you pay extra is to have overclocking unlocked. For the PSU CX isn't the best model to go with. I'm actually running two HD 7950s on the one you are going with but it is still not recommended (I have had no problem) So you should get something like a Seasonic 600w PSU.

first of all ditch that psu from your list cx series are very troublesome psu go for a seasonic ,xfx,evga,corsair tx/rm series .....
and if u are not going to oc then buy a non k version of cpu and a h87 or 97 board will save u some money..

+1 if you trade out the K model get a H97 MB.

Gaming is the main reason I'm getting this and my budget is around £1270 or $2170

That's smart. I didn't think to do that for my build, and now I want to OC. Like a guy said above get a I5 4690k since it is the newest model and you wont pay much more for it. Also did you check my link? That will perform like the GTX 780 but is $140 cheaper, and comes with $150 in games.

I'm getting all my parts from Scan as I like the sound of their ScanSure deal. As for the 290 r9, you're looking at about £300 for the MSI version, £325 for the Asus and £375 for the XFX, which are around the same price points as the Gtx 780s and to be honest, I think I would prefer an Nvidia card over a Radeon.

Try what legend said. Also you could maybe know some off the PSU since the GPU only requires a 600w PSU, but could even be run on a quality 500w. One Tech Youtuber ran a GTX 780 Ti off a 430w PSU. It was a Corsiar R430 or something.

That seems to be the cheapest 'quality' PSU, but I don't think that would leave much money for a 4690k. Do you actually think I would see much difference in a 4690k over a 4670k in real-world usage?

Real world for gaming you should at most see a couple FPS less with the I5 4670k but you are fine. Since you are getting the Z97 MB you will be able to upgrade to Broadwell in the future. It's just recommended to get the newest product, and they are the same price in the US.

Also a CX 750 would be fine (I'm running two mid-high end GPU on one) they are just supposedly not as reliable, but as long as you have a warranty you should be fine.

No, not really in terms of fps performance, I really suggest you look at overclcokers uk as they always have sales which know off like 50 pounds of cards
