Hello guys!

First of all I wanna say that my rig is used 98 % for gaming. The other things which I do are surfing on the internet, watching youtube videos, etc.

I just bought a new components and built a new PC. The problem is that I'm using my old PSU ( Corsair GS800), which I bought back in 2012, my question is, is that old enough to cause problems and do bad things to the new parts or make the system unstable, etc., I've heard some stories, which kinda worry me and makes me asking you if I should buy a new one, like EVGA 850W G2 for example, because I heard it is one of the best or choose to stay with my Corsair. The second question is that I am not sure if I made kind of mistake for buying a Gigabyte mobo, instead of the Asus one, which is Maximus Hero VII. I heard that it has more overclocking extras, but this doesn't bother me, because I am not planning to overclock my CPU nor my GPU for now. Also I know that Asus is a top brand for components, and my question is mainly on performance in games between those two motherboards.

My new parts:
i7 4790k with CoolerMaster 212 EVO

Gigabyte Z97X GAMING 7

EVGA GTX 980 Ti CLASSIFIED

Kingston Hyper X Savage @ 1600Mhz CL9 DDR3 ( heard that for gaming I won't see much difference with other speeds )

250 GB SAMSUNG 850 EVO

1TB HDD WD BLACK SERIES

The case which I use, is NZXT Phantom 410

I look foward to hear from you guys! You can also give your thoughts on my new components, which I've chose wrong, which right and other stuff. Thanks in advance! :)

So should I stay with mine for now, since I don't catch any problems or issues with it, or at least I can't see them, or buy a new one - EVGA SUPERNOVA 850 G2? Please help me decice. Thank you

IMO the ASUS board would be better but you're looking at a Haswell build when you could take a Skylake build and take advantage of Gigabytes new KILLER line up of boards as well as DDR4 RAM. I'd suggest looking at that.

As per the 2 boards in current context, the ASUS one has more overclocking features and general motherboard features.

I've already bought those components 2 months ago and since Skylake and DDR4 aren't big improvements in gaming, I've choose Haswell and DDR3, maybe in a few years when Intel drop new platforms, which will include bigger improvement in gaming, I will change to that platform, but for now, I think that the difference between 4790k and 6700k is almost the same in gaming. When I got my new components , Asus Maximus Z97 Hero VII wasn't in stock, and that's why I've chose Gigabyte. I hope that there won't be such differences in gaming performance, since I'm not planning for overclocking for now. :) What would you suggest me to do with the PSU? Thanks
