New PC crashes when trying to play games and green or black screen pops up

SOLUTION THAT WORKED FOR ME: Reinstalling my OS helped with like 50% of the crashes I was getting. I also got curious and thought that's maybe my 4 pin molex to 8 pin pcie adapter was letting me down, so I ordered a new one and now I barely get crashes, but they still happen only rarely and with higher clock speeds (1250mhz+). (Most likely my PSU?)

I have a very frustrating situation here for me. I recently have built my new PC, installed latest GPU, CPU and motherboard drivers. Whenever I attempt to load up a game, within 5-10 minutes or sometimes even less, my PC freezes and the screen goes either lime green or black. My new GPU had come OC so I have tried to go into MSI Afterburner to try and lower the clock speed but still no luck. My system does not seem to overheat when idle but its hard to check the temp when I am loading up a game as sometimes it can crash instantly. I have also checked out a few other related questions but nothing has worked for me so far.

My Specs:
Intel - Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
Cooler Master - Hyper TX3 Evo 43.1 CFM CPU Cooler
Asus - STRIX H270F GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Kingston - 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory
Seagate - BarraCuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
MSI - Radeon RX 480 8GB ARMOR 8G OC Video Card
Cooler Master - B500 ver.2 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply

EDIT: I have used DDU to clean the drivers and I have reinstalled them with the latest ones- 17.5.1 Driver

EDIT 2: Reinstalling drivers did not solve much. Also, now I cannot load into any game without a green, red or blue screen and a pc crash.

It's possible that the PSU is failing at it's duties. Have you made sure your motherboard BIOS is up to date? While that of your chipset and GPU are of the latest revision? Speaking of revision, which BIOS are you on and what are the drivers revision for your GPU?

Does the issue exhibit itself when you're on idle/in BIOS?

Try and borrow a branded PSU of reliable quality(tier 1 if possible) and see if the issue persists.

So far I have tried 4 games and I downloaded Crimson ReLive Edition 17.5.1

It's possible that the PSU is failing at it's duties. Have you made sure your motherboard BIOS is up to date? While that of your chipset and GPU are of the latest revision? Speaking of revision, which BIOS are you on and what are the drivers revision for your GPU?

Does the issue exhibit itself when you're on idle/in BIOS?

Try and borrow a branded PSU of reliable quality(tier 1 if possible) and see if the issue persists.

My bios is up to date (0607) and im pretty sure most things are up to date. How will I be able to check my BIOS I am on and my gpu revision? Sorry, I'm not the greatest at this.

Three possible scenarios are obvious here:
> drivers not working as they should - since you tested newest one, I would suggest trying previous version too
> GPU might be faulty - to check that you would need to try it in different machine
> and finally as Lutfij already suggested, PSU not delivering enough power - you need to test different and good PSU in your machine
Less obvious scenarios include failed PCIe motherboard slot (you can make a test at 2nd slot, but note that it is only x4 so it will slow the card down) or some kind of weird software interaction (if you have any programs running while gaming, try to turn them off).

I will try these options and get back to you. Also, could a faulty copy of windows be the issue? (maybe not but I'm nearly out of options). I had a friend install windows 10 onto my pc from a USB.

If you can go into BIOS, the information for your BIOS revision can be found off the top left hand corner just under the time:

Example image is for the Z270G BIOS but the layout is the same for all of Asus' ROG lineup. BIOS version 0607 is the latest BIOS available off their support site.

If you suspect the OS installation to be faulty/corrupt, you should recreate your bootable USB installer and reinstall your OS.

Thanks for the help, my BISO version is 0607. I will most likely reinstall Windows 10 and get back if it helps or not.
