I'm about to build a new PC focused on intensive gaming.

My doubt is if i should build it based on ddr3 or ddr4 as the last came out quite recently and I'm not sure it's worth spending extra money for first generation ddr4 components, or stick to the top end ddr3 ones...

Thank you very much in advance!

Can you give a time scale? Ddr4 is expected per a few sites I read to reach 30% energy saving and 20% performance gain on DDR3, being atm only around 20% more expensive, alot depends on the extra mb cost and also when you start buying these parts

ddr3 is great for everything but extreme gaming. I still use ddr2 from time to time and it's still usable lol. ddr3 paired with a haswell chip and a good gpu is still great for gaming

Thanks everyone for your opinions!

You mean when am I planning to buy?

If so, next week is the deadline. My laptop can't open any game, it shutsdown by itself after few minutes with csgo running at very low settings.
