Hello!

Please help a newbie get out of trouble!
I just build a PC for the first time.
This is it:
Intel® Core™ i7-8700K
MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GT OC 4GB
CPU be quiet! Shadow Rock LP
Corsair CX650, 80+ Bronze, 650W
ASUS PRIME Z370-P
SSD Samsung 860 EVO 500GB SATA-III 2.5 inch
Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB DDR4 3000MHz CL16 Dual Channel Kit

I'm trying to use it with my old Dell monitor, with a HDMI to VGA adapter (https://cablexpert.com/item.aspx?id=8978). The monitor works with my old computer.

I plugged everything in, the PC receives power, but the monitor says "in power safe mode press any key on keyboard or move mouse", then goes black. 🙁
How do I check if the problem is the adapter, or maybe the PC doesn't boot?
Where do I go from here?

Thank you!

You are describing a new build with an HDMI to VGA converter as display. However you are not saying if it posts or not. Does the computer start ? Does it beep ? If yes then the adapter is not suitable.. if the pc does not boot then it's something else.
The CPU should have integrated graphics. Try starting the build without the dedicated GPU and use the VGA and HDMI to test.

Hello, Andrei!

Thank you for your help.
I actually disassembled everything and then put it back together.
Then it worked really smooth. I have no idea what was wrong.
The only thing that I wasn't sure I got right from the first time are the system panel connectors.
I didn't know which side was the ground. No idea if this might have been the cause, but I'm glad it worked.
I was starting to freak out a little.

Thank you again :)
