So, I built my first PC yesterday, I have everything except for the GPU installed, and I have run into a problem. :fou:

When I turn on the computer, the DRAM LED blinks twice (first short, then long.) And then proceeds to reboot, and do the same thing over again.

I have found a solution to stop the reboot, which is unplugging the CPU power cable, leading me to believe the processor is the problem. Obviously, my first thought was that I had bent some of the pins on the processor, but after thorough investigation, that is not the case. :heink:

Below I will link a video of the problem, please help!

Components:
MOBO- Asus M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard.
CPU- AMD FD6300WMHKBOX FX-6300 6-Core Processor Black Edition.
RAM- Kingston HyperX FURY 8GB Kit (2x4GB) 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM - White (HX318C10FWK2/8)
PSU- Thermaltake 600W PSU.

Could the problem be that simple? That would be fine as I am getting my GPU with my next paycheck, what GPU would be good with my other parts? I was looking at a gtx 970 or gtx 1070.

It could be that simple or it could be a bad motherboard or ram you won't really be able to know for sure till you stick a card in it.

I honestly think a 1070 would be bottlenecked by your cpu.. 970 might to in games that need more cpu usage.

You could get an rx480 its about on par with a 970, and is cheaper and will probably surpass the 970 with time. If you live in the US you can get the rx480(4gb) reference design for $200 and the 8gb model for $239-249. There has been some controversy however with drawing to much power that some people think are going to break their motherboards, AMD has promised a fix for that issue though or you could go with an aftermarket design that hasnt been released and might not be still by the time you're ready to order one.

I switched the connectors to their correct spots, but that didn't fix the issue, but at least they are in the right spot now. 😛
