I'm in the process of building my first PC and I want to use Windows 7 as my new OS.

I have music equipment that don't have drivers for Windows 10, so I want to use Windows 7 and/or 8 until the companies release Windows 10 drivers.

I'm currently using an older PC with Vista Home Basic 32-bit & I have an activated code that reads: (xxxxx-OEM-xxxxxxx-xxxxx)

Do I download an ISO of Windows 7 & use this code or do I go on ebay & buy a whole new Windows 7 box for about $80?

What about if I have an older PC with Windows 7 installed... could that code or OS be "moved" over to my new built PC?

Solution
As already said, you cannot upgrade (for free) from Vista to Windows 7. And if you really need Windows 7, you have to act fast, as it is no longer manufactured by Microsoft, so eventually, some day, retailers will run out of stock.

My local electronic store sells Windows 7 Home OEM for like $120.
