ASUS ROG Strix B850-E

Wifi is disabled in bios.
Plugged the ethernet cable in the 5G slot, orange light shows up and stays forever.
I thought buying this board over Z790 was a good idea to avoid the failing intel network, this one uses realtek.
360 Euro for this board and now this. If i can't get ehternet working, i'm done with ASUS for the rest of my being.
To clarify, if it wasn't obvious i can't access the internet at all - device offline.
Any hints what can be done?

Edit for "next time".

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Include PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition (original to build, new, refurbished, used)?

Disk drive(s): make, model, capacity, how full?

List all attached peripherals.

Try another known working Ethernet cable.

Try another known working computer or network device in the router port being used by your computer.

Run "ipconfig /all" (without quotes) via the Commandl Prompt.

Post the full results.

You should be able to copy and paste the results with no need to retype it all.

Every device requires a driver.
If your device doesn't work, first thing you do is to check, if drivers have been installed properly.

You do not start with blaming manufacturer for things, you have forgotten to do.
Previously with my old computer after flashing any OS and plugging in the ethernet cable, the machine was directly connected online.
I had no idea the new normal is for the user to install network drivers.
From logic, why provide network drivers on support page instead of just shipping them with the product for auto installation, with older hardware that was the case atleast for me.

it all depends on how new the hardware is, manufacturers get hardware drivers in place to support their hardware but for the hardware to work without a download the drivers need to be in the windows install. Windows will try to use a generic driver if a specific one isn’t available but if that doesn’t work you are a little stuck.

After installing windows it’s good practice to update the drivers for the components, gpu, network, motherboard etc. so your pc can work at its best.

Good that you got it working.

That makes sense, and it also explains why nearly all linux distros i tried never have these problems.
I'm using an oudated windows 10 iso, since microsoft decided to block iso files with a VPN connection i won't be getting a new iso nomore.
Yeah i manually download all drivers and install them, don't need windows to spy on me.
