Hey just buying a computer for bf3 the old e6500 wasn't giving me decent fps on some of the larger mp maps so decided to get rid of it and get something little better with 900/ budget for new pc been shopping around online and found these

atx midi case
i7 - 2600 - 3.4ghz cpu
intel H68 - mb -- ( 1333mhz x2 ram slots max 16gig )
2x4gig 1333ghz ram
amd ati hd 6870 - gpu
psu - 650 watt coolmaster

$873-00

---------------------------------------------------
thinking problems in the future with this only having the 16gig ram maxed and not 32 maxed
but guess i could always just buy a better MB later or i can get this

---------------------------------------------------
atx midi case
i7spu 2600 - 3.4ghz xpu
gigabyte - z68 xf/sli ( z68 has 32gig )
2x4 1333ghz ram
2x ati hd 6770 ( 16x - 8x on z68 )
pus 750 watt coolmaster

$900- right on the budget
-------------------------------------------------
so with this board im wondering about the cf 6770 for bf3 for decent play and graphics on a 26" tv ( can always get a better gpu later and then CF them up once the same card is cheaper for boosts in future - but the 2nd slot is only x8 and not a full x16 like some of the real nice cf/sli boards
but does have the 32gig memory capacity and i could just use a single better gpu later

i have concerns about the cf setups and the gpus added heat with only stock cooling in this case / micro stutter / 16x/8x / compatibility issues with games also
---------------------------------------------------
So question really which do you think is the better buy which my budget n future upgrades in mind and playing bf3 at high or higher grapics with 26" tv

nah, go with 2500k and CrossFire 7770's, they scale 100% in crossfire.

Power color is having a deal where you can buy 2 for 150ea(300$) and crossfire 7770's perform better than a 580 and is even on par with 7970.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bqjAejObZE#t=02m53s
(pay attention to the 7870, it performs better than the 580 and it costs 100$ less.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3E4YhRvoQY#t=03m12s
(now, the 7870 is crazy nice price/performance, but the crossfire 7770's outperform a single 7870 for 50$ less.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hsoD_L7UeM#t=01m43s
(on par with a single 7970)

All of AMD's new cards pretty much scale 100% when crossfiring.

So, get crossfire 7770's and save loads of cash while having beast mode performance.

Whatever you do, don't go for a Bulldzoer processor. I'd stay away from it, let alone it's attractive price tag.

yea thinking i might as well buy the Xfire rig and play with oc abit on them duel 6770's
leasts its got the i7 cpu and xfire already set up with everything id need to upgrade for the future , thinking -- use 2x6770 till they become to crap then upgrade to a gtx 570+ and then changing the MB to something with 16x - 16x -- idk you see anything better thats complete desktop for my 900 budget >?

CrossFire'ing average cards will do you no good. CrossFire and SLI suffer from micro stuttering, even more so if you use low end cards.

Triple CrossFire/SLI essentially gets rid of micro stuttering. You're almost always better of using a high end single card.

Also if you game, you don't need an i7, i5 is enough and will save you some money. Get a Z68 motherboard.

You don't need more than 8GB RAM for gaming.

Definitely don't go AMD for the CPU, atm.

Buying a pre-build PC is no good idea. You could get a better custom rig for that money, any day.

well i was thinking the same thing with the micro stutter and they dont say what type of MB besides being a z68 chipset so im not sure if i should just get crossfire rig with the h68 MB and cope with it untill i can afford a better motherboard + single gpu card
without having the unknown z68 chipset MB its only $829.00 australian -- but if anyone knows a better site i could customise a pc a little better , newegg dont ship to australia , tried cyberpowerpc , but there setup thats the same is 1200+ so idk atm the cross fire rig is looking alright once i sink more cash into it.

going to bump this post , still havent made a choice - could also get a
i5 2500k -
gtx 560 ( if its the ti version doesent say so im just assuming its the normal 560
-8gig ram 1333
- 650w psu
for around the same price -- in the h68 chipset mb - 2x ram slots shity board
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
so going to sit on it for couple hours if no ones got something better for me ill guess i
will just buy the xfire setup rig with the duel 6770 aka 5770 , thinking upgrading with the xfire rig will be cheaper than buying a crap board with half decent card then having to upgrade both board n video cards , but guess i could always get i5 then buy another MB like a fx sabertooth that supports better crossfire n a 2nd 560 later but 650 psu might be tad light for duel 560s -- iibuy confirmed that the xfire rig 2nd pci-e runs @ 16x - 8x too so guess thats alright. so idk tell me what you guys think so i can make up my mind

BF3 is a game that won't be heavily impacted by CPU, and no game benefits from any of the advantages of hyperthreading (most suffer in that HT produces more heat for no gaming benefit). i5-2500k is the best bang for the buck, and ultimately one of the best performers all around.

I'd recommend an i5-2500k, your choice of p67 or z68 chipset boards (don't go with h68). For the GPU I'd look for a 6950 or 560ti or better. Regular 560 and down really won't justify the money spent imo for BF3 in particular.

Are you capable of building a rig yourself? If so you're going to be able to get way more performance per dollar than if you order a pre-built computer where 25%-35% of what you end up paying is justified as labor fee.

The main problem is that neither of these systems is really upgradable, at least not without wasting something. If you get the CrossFire 6770 setup you waste those 2 cards on update, since they are the weak point. Now a 6770 is not that pricey, but two cards are at about 200$.

You are also wasting money on an i7 cpu, another 80-100$.

And like casualcolors said, probably ~25% of the budget on the system being built by someone else.

If you can't or don't want to built a system yourself, get some help from a friend or family member and give it a try. You can even buy the right components you want and go to a PC store and pay them per hour to put the stuff together and end up with a system that fits and has no obvious disadvantages.

+1
Building the rig yourself is better.

alright got this instead
case - atx midi blk
cpu -- i5 2500k ( unlocked multi )
gpu -- ati 9870 crossfire supported
Mb -- gigabyte - z68 xf/sli supported -- (16x - x8) -- 32g max ram
ram - 8gig - 1333
hd -- 1tb -- 7200rpm
psu --750 coolmaster
------------------------------------------------------------------
so building it like you said adding compound n windows and such $869 - aus
parts from amazon.com / uk ones that ship to australia

so does this sound abit better than xfire 6770 - aka 5770 re-boxed ? @ $907ish

It is better, yes.
But, what did you mean by ati 9870 CF support?

No. Those graphics cards are several years old.

If you're listing your case as "atx midi blk" and you mean a Fractal Design Arc Midi, you don't need a case that expensive when your goal is to get as much performance as you can for your money.

case - Coolermaster Haf 912 - 49.99
cpu - i5-2500k - 200.00 after mib
gpu - gtx 560ti from newegg - 210.00 after mib
mobo - asrock extreme 3 gen.3 -120.00
ram - any 1600mhz ddr3 8gb kit - 40-50.00
hd - any 1tb 7200 rpm - 110.00
psu - corsair tx650 or similar seasonic/enermax - 89.99
windows 7 64bit home premium-99.99

929.97 add tax. Better components, money spent in the right places.

actualy meant to say the video is a ati radeon 6870 ,
not a 9870 ^_^
had to read it twice before i seen i did put 9870 , was like 6870s arnt 7 yrs old lol :D
as for the case , its just a standard mid sized atx case 39.95 cheap as biscuts
and after you add the optial drives and such to that price list you wrote it goes well over my 900 -_- budget

Optical drives? Buy whatever OEM drive you can find for 15 bucks :x What else did you need to add? Since you meant 6870's in your last post, that changes some things. crossfire 6870's will be more powerful than a single 560ti, but also will run about 340-360 dollars unless you are buying refurbs. Otherwise the builds are similar, though the one you listed is a bit less future proofed with the build on older tier GPU and yours should run about 160 dollars more expensive than what I listed. Might want to double check your pricing on the previous build, or better double check the price on what I listed in your currency. I listed mine in USD.

Once you convert the prices mine should come in about 100 cheaper than the xfire 6870 build. Either one would be suitable though as long as they aren't 9870's lol.
