Hello guys,

I am building a new pc from scratch for orchestral music production, video/photo editing and some games.
Here’s what I have got until now:

I am used to working on a pair of 24" 1080p monitors. Now think about upgrading and choosing an ultrawide one. I found the Samsung C34H890, but I don't really know much about ultrawide monitors.


Any thoughts on this configuration?

I don't know much about monitors but here is what I think you should do.

That PSU is garbage. Do not buy any Chieftec PSU. I would recommend a 650W gold PSU from good brand like Corsair TXM, RM, RMX or a Seasonic Focus Gold.

Your RAM. I do not know if your intention was to buy 4 individual stick from the same brand and model but it is not recommended. You should buy your ram sold as a KIT. Sold together in a package.

The build you pasted but with a 4x16GB RAM kit that is on the motherboard memory support list and a 650W 80+ gold from Corsair or Seasonic with a 10 years warranty. The rest of the build looks fine to me.

As gaming is not my priority, I am willing to wait for new 3000-Gen Nvidia cards this year. So, I will take a second-hand R7 240 for the time being, just to be able to use a 1440p screen setup.

Has AMD confirmed the 4000 series will work in 450 or 470 motherboards?

not sure why would you spend so much on a old X470 board, +300$ you can even get a better one like the Taichi for less! Not only has PCIe 4.0 which will be good use in the future for storage options but most important it has better memory compatibility compared to the X470 mobos.

Hello ocer9999,

The MSI x470 Gaming Pro Max is at 135€ where I live.
The only X570 around the same price would be:

• Gigabyte X570 GAMING (142€)
• MSI X570-A PRO (153€)
• ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 (153€)
• Gigabyte X570 GAMING X (159€)

Here, I assume we are talking about high-end X470 vs low-end x570.
At this price range, would you recommend me going for a X570 instead?

By the way, as for the monitor, I decided to go for a Viewsonic VA2719-2K-smhd. I tested a few screens and 27" is the optimal size for a desktop setup I think.

Finally, I decided to go without any GPU (just a GT730 while I am waiting for the new RTX 3000) and chose a Ryzen 3900x with an ASUS PRIME X570-P.
