Question New PC for software development major

I'll be off to college soon, but first I'm taking a year off to save up for a car and a PC to use. I'm thinking of a budget around 2000 and its gotta have at least 2tb of storage and the power to deal with large amounts of code - plus a little gaming on the side, nothing too serious though.

2000 USD? Do you need a monitor included in that 2000?

Yes, I will need a monitor, nothing over 1440p though, I'm not going to need over-the-top hardware. I would prefer dual monitors because I've worked with a setup like that before and it made multitasking a reality rather than a dream. A compact system will probably help since I wont have much room, but I've never built a computer myself before, just disassembled and reassembled my mother's HP prebuilt.

I'm aware of the difficulties that go along with SFF builds and I think I can handle it as long as I'm careful. All that matters is the power we can pack into this machine with my budget.
