New PC for this year

I am about to make a new Gaming PC at nearly 1000 bucks this Christmas and i was wondering if this year and the period around Christmas is a good period to make a new PC. Are there any new technologies to be released soon, or new graphics cards (from Nvidia, cause AMD realesed the new gpu's). Overall is it going to be a good purchase for now or shall i wait the new year?

The best time to buy a 'Christmas' PC is on or before the Halloween sales value wise.
Otherwise wait for new hardware to lower prices and clear 'old' (<= 6 months old) stock in March/April 2014.

Christmas is the worst time to buy a new PC... prices are high, demand is high (people are dumb), and the Halloween sales are over.

Rarely do new parts ship globally past Oct 23rd on a large enough scale to reduce prices.
