Hello, I recently built a new PC and the specs are as follows:
Intel Core i7 3770k 3.5 GHZ
8gb ddr3 ram
Geforce GTX 660 SC
gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H motherboard.
1TB Western Digital Hard Drive.
Windows 7 Home Premium service pack 1 OS.

The drivers I got are:
VIA audio driver
intel Management Engine Interface
intel INF Installation
Atheros LAN driver
VIA USB 3.0
Intel USB 3.0
Intel VGA driver for Ivy Bridge CPU.

Now my problem is that with the games I play, after about 10-20 minutes, the audio cuts off and then shortly after the game freezes. it usually recovers and goes back to running fine within about a minute but this happens repetitively. The games that it most frequently does this for is Dishonored and Simcity 2013. the only thing on my PC is those drivers listed above, graphics drivers, and the games themselves. I want to know why my games temporarily freeze and what can be done to fix this. Thank you.

yea my graphics drivers are all up to date.

Thermal paste was applied upon installation of the CPU. temps when gaming are around 50-60 C. And my friend had overclocked this prior to me getting it, but when he gave the rig to me we switched hard drives. I saw no evidence of an overclock in BIOS.

Ok so I went into BIOS and there was no overclock or anything. Any other ideas?

when power up pc by hitting delete.get in to BIOS and load default settings.

testing game with default BIOS now. i will let you know the results. Thank you.

Alright ill try to do some of these things and get back to you in a few hours

if it helps. the problem did not really occur until after i installed simcity. then it happened for dishonored and one time for arma after installation of simcity.
