Hi All,

I'm looking for some advise please. I'm looking to build a new Gaming PC as my current one has died. I can use my old power unit, ssd and hdd components from my old pc into my new one, although I'd like to get a new case. Can anyone recommend what I should get with a budget of £1500-£2000? I'm in the UK. I'm really tempted by the i9 but my friend tells me I can more bang for my buck with an AMD? Thanks in advance

I agree, we need to know the make/model/wattage of your PSU. What monitor do you have? Also, what SSD(s) and HDD(s) do you currently have?

Here's an idea, just to give you a ballpark of some costs. The GPU is targeted around a 1080p high refresh rate monitor.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor (£409.98 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG H5 Universal 65 CFM CPU Cooler (£44.99 @ Currys PC World)
Motherboard: MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI ATX AM4 Motherboard (£183.40 @ Alza)
Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory (£154.43 @ CCL Computers)
Storage: Western Digital Blue SN550 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid...
The Ryzen R5-3600 on a B450 board is a very good level of performance for the money! Some choose the X570 board, but, little to be gained, gaming-wise, with PCI-e 4.0 just yet... Some might choose R7-3700X for a little extra thread capacity over what's 'needed now'....

AMD's efforts don't quite match the 9900K in gaming, but, the 9900K is a few hundred more in CPU and cooler cost....

The GPU will depend on desired resolution and refresh rate....

A GTX1660/1660TI/2060 Super is plenty for most folks at 1080P, where still 80% of the world sits/plays...
