I built a new gaming PC a couple days ago w/o a graphics card (I'm waiting for one). It has been working just fine, except a few times when I turned it on it said no signal on the monitor but unplugging the power seemed to fix it those times, but nothing is working this time. The PC lights turn on and the fans spin, but it says no signal (I'm using Displayport). I tried turning the PSU on and off and same with the power strip. I don't know what to do!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Solution

Yes. take out both sticks and re-inset them firmly. Here are the instructions for reseting your CMOS. I've looked up your motherboard manual and read through it to confirm. Please follow all steps

>Unplug power cable, monitor, LAN cable
> Flick power supply switch to off
> Press power button on P.C to discharge capacitors
> Remove CMOS battery (it will be near PCI slots I believe)
> Locate CMOS jumper. It should be close to the battery
> Take a screw-driver or any metal object and short the pins for 5 seconds. You must make a grounding connections for it to work
> Put battery back in > Cables >...

It stays on for the entire time until I turn it off, but now it turns on and off randomly

If the PC resets like that, reseat the ram, if that doesn't fix it, it sounds like there is something wrong with the CPU and I would try to reinstall that, also try to reset the CMOS.

Edit: If you take out the CPU, make sure the pins are not damaged in any way.

I forgot to mention that I was overclocking in the BIOS when this happened, could that make a difference?

To reset the RAM do I just reinstall it? And how do I reset CMOS?

I have the same Mobo ;).
Look for the CMOS jumper, and hit it with a key. (Located at the bottom near the power jumper)
I you can't find it, remove the little battery on the Mobo(Should be below the CPU socket) and reinsert it

Edit: yes just take out the ram, and reinsert it.

OK thanks I am doing this. Is the CMOS battery the circular one under the CPU socket? What does the jumper look like?

Yes sir. And yes it will be two pins only protruding vertical from motherboard. The jumper should be near the battery, if not look around the motherboard with a 2 pin jumper that states CMOS_RES or something along those lines.

Alternatively, if you cannot locate this jumper, leaving the battery removed for at least 10 minutes should allow the CMOS to lose it's memory and reset itself.

Yes thats the battery, and the CMOS jumper looks like a little pins sticking up, below it should be labeled

Looking profusely but can't find the jumper. Do you know where exactly on the MoBo it could be? (reset the RAM and removed the battery)

Near the bottom of the MoBo there are 4 pins. Each 2 on the sides are bundled separately but the two sets are side by side. Could that be the jumper? Also Could it be a button?

It's just two pins isolated by themselves and have a marking that says CMOS_RES. Like I said, if you can't find it just leave the battery out for 10 minutes

There is are 3 pins vertically at the top of the mobo. The manual says it is a CPU Over Voltage jumper and it is labeled CPU_OV. Could that be the jumper? Alternatively, the battery has been out for about 20 minutes, is that enough to reset the CMOS?

After putting the battery back in and following the steps, it worked!!!! THANKS SO MUCH!!!!! I probably won't try to overclock anytime soon lol

Good to hear man. Don't let that discourage you. I've been overclocking for 15 years and I've probably reset my CMOS a thousand times. Literally lol.

Take care.
