I bought a Ryzen 5 5500 along with a MSI B450 PRO-VDH MAX mobo. I went to install windows and update the BIOS (7A38vBB/not the latest update but is the one that supports 5000 series CPUs?) with my old R3 3200g APU no gpu, BIOS update was successful, I installed my GTX 1060 and it worked.

I then installed my new processor onto the motherboard with new BIOS version yet when I plugged in my GPU I got no post. I'm not sure if I did anything incorrectly.

Oddly enough pcpartpicker lead me to believe I wouldn't need to update the mobo's bios which is why I purchased it.

Build specs
MSI pro-vdh max
PNY GTX 1080(new GPU)
ASUS GTX 1060 3gb(old GPU)
Ryzen 3 3200g(BIOS update cpu)
Ryzen 5 5500(New CPU)
2x8gb ram 3200mhz

r5 5500 came out about a year later after the other 5000 series. so it need a newer version of bios
I should've paid closer attention to the page. I remember being on the combability page a before getting the motherboard. I thought the bios I installed was compatible with all 5000 series cpus, confusing. Thanks for your help.
