New PC - Slow Boot Up Times

Hi guys! I hope you're all well! So, just took the plunge and bought a new system from PC Specialist. Here's a screenshot of the specs: https://i.gyazo.com/07f0a652388599c2b9d6e6833ede4214.pn...

I am really impressed with the new system, except for the boot up times, which IMO are poor. As you can see, I chose a SSHD, so slower boot up times than a SSD, are to be expected. However, I am getting circa 40 second boot up and nearly 2 minute restart times, which seem a bit slow to me. I've tried tweaking the BIOS/Windows, but nothing that I changed sped up the boot process (I've reverted back to optimised defaults on the BIOS now).

It seems to me that the time between the power button and the motherboard initialising (normally around 15 seconds) is what's causing the slow boot up/restart times.

I've spoken to PC Specialist, but their support wasn't great, IMO.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

William

Woah, thanks for the quick replies, guys! I wanted a hybrid so I could have everything on one drive, for ease of use. So, what I'm experiencing is perfectly normal, then? :)

Completely normal.

It's still a mechanical drive so it won't really improve boot times at all.

Oh, I thought the SSD part was for booting of the system/programs, and the HDD for the storage. Must've got that confused somewhere. Like I said though, the motherboard takes a long time to initialise, after power on. That doesn't seem right to me...

High end MB, that's normal really.

Your fine.

40 second boot time with a mechanical HD is just fine.

If you have a high end board and aren't using most of the features you can turn them off. Might help you load faster. Disable/turn off anything you aren't using such as second lan, firewire, etc. The less stuff your board has to turn on, the faster it can boot.
