Hi Guys,
Just about to get parts for a new PC and I haven't done this sort of
thing for a good number of years. I wondered if anyone would care to
proffer an opinion about the following parts list, before I end up with
a load of junk that doesn't work together!
Motherboard Abit AA8 3rd Eye
Processor Intel Pentium 4 550 "LGA775 Prescott" 3.4GHz (800FSB) with HT
Technology - Retail (CP-059-IN)
Case Thermaltake Xaser III V2000A Super Tower Aluminium w/window
Power Supply Thermaltake Xaser Silent Purepower 480W PSU Silver
Hard Drive 1 Western Digital Raptor 10000RPM 74GB 8MB SATA OEM
Hard Drive 2 Maxtor DiamondMAX 10 300GB SATA 16MB Cache
DVD RW 1 Asus DRW-1604P 16x DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter OEM
DVD RW 2 Asus DRW-1604P 16x DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter OEM
Monitor Viewsonic VP201B 20.1ins TFT Ana/DVI Pivot-Height Adjust
1600x1200 Black
RAM Corsair 1GB DDR2 XMS2-5400 Pro TwinX (2x512MB) (MY-057-CS)
Graphics Card Sapphire Radeon X800 XT 256Mb GDDR3 PCI Express
I'm working to a budget of around 2,000 UK Pounds, so I can't go too mad
on the spec, but it's basically a PC needed for a bit of gaming and some
coding too (hence the monitor - that I'll need to be looking at all day!)
If I purchase the above from one of the major UK "parts" suppliers, such
as ebuyer or the like, is there anything else I'm going to need to get?
I'm thinking along the lines of power leads, SATA connector leads, DVI
cable, and especially if I'm going to need any additional cooling or
thermal paste type stuff for the processor.
If you've managed to stay with my witterings this far - then thanks -
and thanks for any comments or help you feel able to give.
All the best,
Pete
