Hello all!
I'm putting together a theoretical build for a future computer. While I expect to have the funds necessary to build an "expensive" computer, I don't want to break the bank per se.
So, one of the things I definitely wanted to do was have reliable and fast storage since I use my PC about 50/50 for gaming and work. I initially thought about doing a 4-5TB RAID5 or 10 but then I realized that I could probably just get a 2TB SSD for the same cost (despite losing 2 TB of storage, I manage with 1TB right now just fine).
The more I read about RAID, the more it seems like I'll be messing around with the disks, and making a single mistake would kill the whole thing (plus a $200 controller). I'm increasingly feeling like just a single massive SSD is the way to go if I want speed and reliability (fewer moving parts, etc).
I wanted to know what the experts take on this plan was. The SSD I identified is here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147441&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=
Thanks!
