New pc stuttering on old games

Hello,
Can someone please explain / help why I am getting micro-stuttering on my new gaming pc on some old games (1996 - 1998), but my 9 year old laptop handles them just fine with absolutely no stutter? I am trying to run these games through 3 different emulators, but all 3 stutter. Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

It's the emulator's fault.
I would try running them in a VM with Win ME instead.

Thank you for your reply Hlsgsz, why are you suggesting Windows Me though? My old laptop is running XP, and these games work perfectly with no stutter on it. I tried Windows XP mode through a virtual machine on my new pc, and all the colours are very distorted.

Please note all 3 different emulators are causing stutter in Windows 7, some worse than others. The games are floppy disk images (HDI files) that need to be run through an emulator for PC98, they're not Windows programs.

I have no idea about that, sorry.

EDIT: I suggest that you make a new topic and include more details in the title(keep it short, bu do include them beeing PC98) so people with experience with those may chip in.
