Hi guys,

I just got a new PC with two gfx cards. Here are my specs:
motherboard: Asus Rampage V Extreme
graphics card: Asus strix gtx980 x 2

My PC detects both graphics cards. On my geforce experience and control panel, it lists out 2x Geforce GTX980. However, I don't see the SLI option under my 3D settings. All I see is "configure Surround, PhysX".

I have the sli bridge connected to my graphics cards. Under GPU info via ASUS GPU Tweak software, it says my bus interface are as follows: PCI-E 3.0 X 16 @ 16.1.1 for my first graphics card and PCI-E 2.0X16 @ 4.1.1

Under GPU info via ASUS GPU Tweak software, it also says that NVIDIA SLI is disabled.

My drivers are also updated to the latest software.

Any idea why I can't seem to be able to have SLI option enabled under my 3D settings in spite of the fact that I have my SLI bridge connected?

Thanks so much!

Solution
You have a card in the black slot(only 4x) which will not work in SLI. You need to use the red slots. If you are using the red slots check the dip switched for those red slots and make sure the appropriate 2 are turned on.

that is what i suspected as well... i will do a swap and see what happens bro... fingers crossed...

can i also ask a noob question: even if all switches are on for the red slots, it wouldnt matter as long as it is in a black slot yes?

You have to have the cards in right slots, for 2 cards, you must have the cards plugged into the #1 and the #3 red slots, and the appropriate dip switches turned on. You shouldn't even have a GPU plugged into the black slot.
