I am upgrading my pc soon and was woundering should I use my windows 7 cd key and then update that to windows 10
Or should I buy windows 10 cd key

Even though Microsoft says that free upgrades are over, you can still get a free upgrade like this (if you have a valid Windows 7 key):
http://www.zdnet.com/article/heres-how-you-can-still-get-a-free-windows-10-upgrade/

So I have to buy windows 10 or should I just set it up on windows 7 first then buy it in future ? Or could I just use the windows 10 media creation tool and run off that for a few days ?

Download the Windows 10 intaller for USB on the microsoft website and choose the one for another computer.
U can just enter the Win7 key and when installing from the USB.. Don't forget to put the USB as Boot device when installing.

Do I have to buy the windows 10 then ?

Nope,if u have the Legit Windows 7 key u can just use that one.

Yes I have the legit one but I want windows 10 could I update it some way ? For free

Download it on USB and boot the new PC from the USB..while installing it will ask for a key, there u enter your Win7 key.

And that would give me the windows 10 ?

you can run media creator for days and it still won't give you a free activation. as other have stated the free upgrade has ended. there is a loophole way to get it but that is kind of a gray area

it depends on what kind of licence is attached to the key. if it is an OEM licence then it will not work. the only way i know a windows 10 install would accept a windows 7/8 key is if it was never used before

I think it has been used before

Yes..but back up the stuff u want to keep on external or second harddrive before doing this.

it depends on what kind of licence is attached to the key..this might be true I am not sure but the used part is not true bcz I used my old Win8.1 key for more times to install this Windows10

no, you go to the website and download the file it instructs you to download. the file is a modified version of windows 10 upgrade assistant that will upgrade your computer to windows 10

as i said before this is a gray area solution. its intended purpose is to help people who have disabilities get access to better tools, not to extend the free upgrade for everyone

windows 10 will accept any unused windows 7 key so if you decide to buy one you don't have to install windows 7 first
