New PC won't boot

I've just finished building a PC and I have put the windows disk in but when I go to boot it it says 'no boot media found' . I've checked boot order. Any ideas??

Yes however it is only plugged into the power pack, does it need to be connected to the motherboard?

Yes, it does. Connect the drive with a SATA cable.

Sorry I have found the SATAY ports. My Hard drive has an IDE connection but my motherboard only has SATA ports. ?
