New pc wont start

I just bought all the parts for my first gaming pc i am a complete noob but i know a little , anyways i plug everything up and not a peep , it happened before and i returned the mobo and got a new one and same thing , i tested the psu on another computer and it comes on , am i hooking something up wrong im so confused and fustrated
My specs are
500 watt evga psu
Asus prime x370 pro
It should start with just those two right ? I have tries it with the gpu / ram or cpu yet

Nope. Need cpu, cpu cooler, and at least 1 stick of ram.

Edit: and a gpu if you expect to see anything at all.
