New Phone (Want for VR)

I have been using a Moto E 2015 for 3 years now and decided its time for an upgrade. My budget is £300 and for that amount I can get some used flagships that sport QHD displays. Now, I was wondering as there are some geat phones that have 1080p displays, whether 1440p is needed. One phone i really want is the OnePLus3, but with the 1080p screen I thought my VR experience would be sub par. Any suggestions??

VR is done through a headset, so the screen resolution does not matter.

If you want something for VR, anything newer/better than an IPhone 4 would work. That is the bare minimum for breakfast. Just grab the phone with the best performance.
