New power supply blew up... bad wattage calc or bad psu?

I've tried several psu calculators out there and have responses that say I'm good and others that say my house will burn down if I plug my computer in. I have 2 identical 500 watt power supplies. One blew up in a bang of smoke and I'm hesitant to hook my other one up. Here's what I've got:
500 watts total
3.3v 20A, 5v 20A =130W
12v1 20A, 12v2 20A = 348W
-12v 0.3A, 5Vsb 2.5A= 15W

What I'm trying to run:
MSI diamond P7N motherboard
Intel Core2Quad Q6600 kentsfield 2.4ghz
Stock intel cpu fan
120mm case fan (molex)
80mm case fan (molex)
Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 flex video card
Sound blaster audigy 2 pci
WD Caviar Blue sata drive
WD Caviar Green sata drive
DVDRW drive
Logitech Orbit USB webcam
Logitech USB gamepad
USB remote mouse/keyboard

I have a feeling I may be short on watts on the 12volt rails but I'm not sure how to do the calculations as I'm fortunate not to deal with power supplies on a regular basis.

So I'm wondering if someone with more experience can say if I've blown up my psu and if so what I need, or if I'm good and the power supply was just crap as it's a visiontek and not really top quality.

I installed a replacement of the same make/model psu and the system still powered on and booted so I'm assuming there's no damage. I'm hesitant of actually using the computer with it though as I don't want it to blow up again if I'm maxing it out.

of the 30 or so reviews I found online with a quick search about 5 were good the rest were all bad, with 90% failing before the first year of not being able to power the gpu with low amps on the 12v rail.

look into a corsair, ocz, xfx, Silverstone, or seasonic power supply, Its wise to never skimp on the PSU, its the heart of the system, if its not doing well the rest of your system cant perform well.

I know visiontek makes video cards. I didn't know they branched out into PSU. I see the label stuff you gave and assuming it can put that it you should be ok. If it blew up, we know what assuming means. Going from memory the Q6600 depending on stepping is around 110W. The 7870 is around 175. So nearly 300W right there. The system should be using less then 350W, which is right were the 348W limit is on your PSU. A real/good 500W PSU should work fine. The PSU in the BA is fine.
