My pc randomly shut off after about 2 weeks of use, tested power supply and it worked, tried jumpstarting the motherboard and that didn’t work either. I returned the motherboard and got a new one to find out the motherboard wasn’t the problem and I have the same issue with the new motherboard. On the new motherboard I tested the ram and ram slots. I’m not sure what the problem could be, maybe the power supply because I only tested 2 pins but I’m not very sure. (The computer fans and rgb lights won’t turn on, nothing happens except a silent noise that Sounds like buzzing when I attempt to turn on pc)

Specs:
Cpu: Ryzen 7 1700x
Gpu: Rx 580 8gb
Motherboard: Msi X470 Gaming Plus
Ram: Corsair Vengence Rgb 2x8gb 3200 MHz

Note: the ram was default clocked something around 2000 MHz so I oc it to 3000 MHz because I thought since it was advertised 3200 MHz it would be fine so the cpu might have gotten fried but then again I’m not even sure how to check that

750W is fine, or 650W.

Ok, thanks for the help! I’ve checked out those power supply’s and I think I know which one I want to get, I just have one question tho. Would the motherboard and case rgb lights and fans still be able to turn on if the processor was fried? Or if something was wrong with graphics card? Just want to be sure before I replace my power supply.

Yes.

I got a new PSU and now I have a new problem, every time I turn on the pc the lights come on and the cpu fan starts turning then a I hear a zap then smoke comes from the gpu and the CPU fan seems to stop, but I turn off the power supply before it might fry the gpu I have no clue what’s going on I even put on the multiple mode to try to keep it safe. I bought the HX 750 and got the 80 plus platinum version

I’m sure the graphics card most likely fried. The motherboard comes with built in graphics so I’m thinking of taking out the gpu and trying to turn it on. I’m just worried something else might get fried such as cpu or motherboard. I have no idea how to check if the power supply caused it or maybe my old power supply. The thing is when I turned it on the gpu light came on for a split second. That leads me to believe the psu could possibly be the culprit. But then again, not sure.
